Wow I’ve been slacking on my posts. I believe these are the items that have been completed since my last post:
1. All three doors are hung. I used one solid door for the AV room (it will have an intake vent and a temp controlled exhaust fan) and two hallow 6 panel doors for the utility rooms. I ordered a louver door for the utility room with the furnace which should come in on Saturday. The extra 6 panel door will replace our half bath door on the first floor which is damaged.

2. Installed the window stool, skirt and jamb and finished it with trim. Still need to finish the trim but it worked out fairly well. Tons of thanks for out to my wife for fighting with the moisture barrier in there. I was struggling and asked for some help and she crushed it.

3. Installed the banister system and handrail. This was the most intricate thing I’ve probably ever done with wood, so there were some learnings but I feel like it turned out MUCH better than I expected.

4. Added the trim to the stairwell which you can see in the previous picture of the handrail.
5. Installed the rest of the electrical devices including the rest of the light switches, outlets, outlet covers and the sconces. The picture doesn’t nearly do the sconces the justice they deserve, these things are cool as hell.

I think that’s about everything, though I’m sure I missed something.
Next my wife has volunteered to do some of the drywall touch ups, so I say good luck to her because this finishing work is for the birds. I’ll also need to throw some wood filler and caulk on all of the trim and finish carpentry and sand those down. Along with that we’ll need to prime or glaze the window box, paint the walls, have the carpet installed (we chose carpet for now and got a solid price for the complete install), reinstall all the wall plates and the speakers and then on to furnishing the room and setting up that projector! There’s an inspection that needs to happen in there but I figure I’ll wait until at least the louver door is in to do that. I might also get the left over peg board and install that on the back side of the other utility room.
Well, that’s about it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in case I don’t post again until then. 🎄🎅🏼
Everything looks great. You’ve done a great job.
