It’s been a few days…

So I haven’t finished any major “milestones” in the past few days, but I certainly got some things cleaned up.

Here’s a quick list of what I’ve been able to accomplish since my last post:

– Decided to frame the inside of the AV closet so I was able to determine the appropriate romex run for the light switch in there.

Short wall in the back will have a small access panel

– As you can also see in the picture above, I ran the “conduit” for the projector wires. I put conduit in quotes because it’s really flexible pond PVC, but it was the right size, elasticity, and price for me…so it works. Well, I guess I shouldn’t say it works, that’s still to be determined lol, but it looks like it’ll work.

– Organized all of my home runs as well as the majority of the other romex that I ran previously.

– Removed all of the pre-wired basement lights in preparation for wiring the utility closets and the new stairwell lighting. Boy was that fun…the wife came down to help with that and the kids destroyed the basement lol. Ahhh, the stuff we’ll look back on and laugh at. I should have taken a picture before my son and I cleaned up…Eeh maybe next time, and there will definitely be a next time. One other thing of note is that I found some interesting wiring techniques that were used when the house was built. Sure they were efficient when they wired the lights, but I’m not 100% sure it meets the current code. I’ll need to get a little creative with how I handle this moving forward. Anyway, we’re now without light in the basement until after everything is finished and ready for the rough in inspection. Once that is complete, I’ll be able to make the electrical connections and hopefully get some power down there. I do have a few outlets which I’m able to run some LED lights and other random lights we had laying around, so it’s not completely dark. In fact, those LEDs the wife got for down there are SUPER bright which you may be able to tell from the pictures.

Alright, hopefully I can get some more progress tomorrow. I picked up some 3/4” plywood to support the in wall and in ceiling speakers, so I’m hoping to have those cut and installed tomorrow. I also just finished reading the Dolby Atmos speaker placement guide and determined the rough locations, so it should simply be a matter of cut and screw.

Finally, some of the speaker wire will be in tomorrow and let me tell it can’t come soon enough. Let’s just say Amazon disappointed this time. I ordered my monoprice cable from Amazon because of the 2-day shipping. Well, the second day came and went and I got the dreaded “undeliverable” message. They said they sent it back to the seller and would give me a refund. Luckily, I found some that could be shipped free by tomorrow with the rest coming Monday. In fact, Monday is a big shipment day with the CAT6 and RG6 coming along with a few more speakers.

Anyway, I digress. Time to try to relax for a bit in preparation for tomorrow’s work.
